2026 Door Prize Blankets
One of our door prize blankets was designed by Gail White Eagle (Muckleshoot & Chehalis). Her vision for this Coast Salish design came to her when she heard the story of a resilient Native warrior who was fighting in the Indian Wars of the 1800’s.
A witness to the bloodshed described the warrior's sacrifice as "the color of rose hips." This design, which is Gail's interpretation of rose hips, honors the the spirit and sacrifice of the “Rose Hip Warrior.”
The red triangles in the design are representative of the way rose hips, a fruit that develops from the blossoms of the wild rose plant, hang when they grow. The herringbone/twill design represents how the brave Native Warrior skillfully eluded his enemies.
Our second blanket prize is a beautiful The Classic Woodland Throw Blanket was designed by Inspired Natives® Project collaborator Sarah Agaton Howes (Anishinaabe). Sarah is known for her beautiful bead work, moccasins and regalia. With this design, she intends to remind us of the beauty and reinvigorating energy of spring time.
The vibrant blanket features numerous design elements indicative of traditional Anishinaabe flora, including the ode'imin (strawberry), manoomin (wild rice), miinan (blueberry), and bimaakwad (the vine) showing us the connection of all things.
